SaaS data + retention + restores
Cloud Application Backup & Recovery for Michigan businesses.
Cloud application backup begins with a specific service and a specific recovery question. CTS Companies helps businesses examine the data, permissions and restore options available for supported cloud applications, then connect those capabilities to an agreed operating responsibility.
The business question
Know what your cloud application can give back.
A cloud application can remain available while a user deletes important information or an integration changes it incorrectly. The provider’s availability, recycle bin, version history and a separate backup service may answer different questions. Review those differences before assuming that every past record can be recovered.
An integration updates the wrong customer records.
The application is online, but a team needs information from before an unwanted update. The recovery discussion should establish what historical data exists, whether individual records can be recovered and how the restored information will be checked.
Define the service
What the relationship needs to cover.
The useful scope connects the technical capability with the people and operating work around it.
Supported data coverage
Identify the tenant, application and data types that can be protected. Review exclusions such as connected files, attachments or configuration that the selected platform may handle differently.
Retention and access
Discuss required history, backup access, privileged roles and changes to user accounts. A departed employee or changed subscription should not leave an unexplained protection gap.
Restore usability
Understand where recovered information can be placed, which permissions need review and who verifies the result. The restore path should fit the way the team actually uses the application.
From discussion to operation
Make the next step explicit.
Start with the current environment, define the responsibility and agree on how the work will be reviewed.
- 01
Name the recovery scenario
Choose an event such as accidental deletion, an unwanted bulk update or loss of access to a user’s data. Establish the business consequence.
- 02
Review available methods
Compare the application’s native options with supported backup capabilities. Confirm licensing, API limitations and the responsibilities that remain with the customer.
- 03
Document and revisit
Record scope, retention and a restore process. Review the design when the application, tenant or data use changes.
Coverage is application-specific and depends on supported data types, interfaces, licensing and the selected service. A cloud backup is not a universal undo function or a guarantee of complete tenant reconstruction.
Questions before you decide
Understand what you are buying.
These distinctions help make the service conversation more useful.
Does the cloud provider already back everything up?
The provider’s resilience and native recovery features should be reviewed for the event you need to address. They may not provide the retention, customer-controlled copies or granular restore route your business expects.
Is this the Microsoft 365 backup page?
Microsoft 365 has its own dedicated service discussion. This page covers the wider decision process for supported cloud applications rather than treating every SaaS platform as interchangeable.
Can a restore overwrite current work?
That depends on the application and method. Agree on the destination, conflict handling and validation before a restore, especially if other users have continued working.
Part of the wider environment
Connect the responsibilities.
This service works alongside other parts of your IT and security operating model.
