Technology was certainly different in 1980, when Stan Stevens sold his first phone system, under the newly formed Competitive Telephone Systems. Telephones were mechanical with cables as thick as your fingers. Electronic telephones, fax technology & PC’s were just beginning to appear in there first years of business, with cell phones several years away.
Joe Stevens joined the company within a couple of years and the partnership remains today. CTS also began to establish relationships with early technology suppliers such as Toshiba, AT&T and NEC. In latter years other suppliers such as Juniper, Aruba, Unitrends, Compellent and Pelco joined the organization.
As the company grew through the 80s and 90s, CTS built one of the best organizations of telecom professionals in the industry. By the turn of the century with the convergence of voice and data, CTS began to train and add IT professionals to the mix. Most of our employees have been with the company over ten years, with a handful over twenty.
By 2005 the newly named CTS Companies had acquired three of our competitors and added data Storage, data vaulting and wireless technology to our core competitency . More recently we have added a line of video products to round out our ability to service our customer network needs. Today we think of ourselves as technology equipment suppliers, not just telecom, and with more than 5,000 installations behind us, we have the experience to address virtually any need our customers have.
Yes, technology has changed dramatically, but CTS’s is committment to servicing our customers on a comprehensive range of progressive, affordable, technology driven solutions, remains unchanged.
